Safari Guide Training Courses
If you’ve seen Safari School, programmes about Safari Guides on TV or watched Wild at Heart and dreamed of working out in Africa as a guide then you’ve definitely come to the right place. You can join us to get accredited qualifications in safari guide training or you can join us for the experience and the learning. You will be trained out in open-tented wild camps, whilst sleeping in safari tents. You will embark on daily bush walks and also game drives whilst learning to be a guide. At night you will sit around the fire and chat about the day’s events whilst listening to the wooping sounds of the hyena or roar of the lion! Courses range from a 2 week ‘taster’ course to the Level 1, 28 Day course or if you’re really keen then why not join us for the whole year and get 6 months lodge experience too!

Game Ranger Experience
If anti-poaching, game capture and wildlife monitoring is what captures your imagination then this is ideal for you. Game Rangers are the custodians of Africa’s game reserves. They are often behind the scenes and rarely seen by the tourist or even field guide. Join us on this course if you want the experience of working along side a game ranger – you’ll participate in the more interesting aspects of the job, including the counting and monitoring of animals, the maintenance of fences, the supply of water, and how to measure the physical condition of animals…and the occasional sleep-out in the bush or game capture…

Wildlife Photography Workshops
Learn how to make the most of your safari pictures and time in the African bush and embark on this unique wildlife and nature photography course with professional wildlife photographer and expert safari guide Sean Pattrick. The focus of this course is to provide a basic understanding of animal behaviour and the sensitivities of working with wildlife; to allow the photographer the best chance of capturing great wildlife photos.

Bespoke safaris and itineraries if you’re just looking for a normal safari
If you are unable to join one of our course or adventures then let Afreco help you organise a memorable African safari that stands out from the normal itineraries!

Namibia motorbike safari
OK, look away now if you don’t have this kind of money, this is probably our most expensive option and you really have to be a passion for bikes…However, if we have your attention and you liked The Long Way Down (or round) then… this IS the trip of a life time for motorbike enthusiasts who like the open road and amazing landscapes Namibia conjures up images of complete desolation and isolation, desertscapes and huge skies, molten sunsets and baron vistas....mental imagery not very far from the truth!!

New and exciting things for 2009 and 2010
Here’s a selection of what is new for 2009 and 2010 and there are no signs that we are slowing down with a lot more exciting projects on the cards for the near future!

Elephant Whispers Volunteer Programme, South Africa (already taking bookings)
The EWVP offers the opportunity to work on both community based projects and wildlife based projects, during intensive 14-day, 28-day, 42-day and 56 day programmes. Get very close to some huge (and very little) elephants whilst caring for these gentle giants! The EWVP motto is ‘Conservation through Education and Interaction’ offering the student volunteers a holistic view on conservation, by showing both the people affected by Conservation and Conservation issues today.

Horse & Conservation Course, South Africa (coming 2009)
The horse and conservation course is for anyone who has a passion for horses and wants to experience and learn about the African bush. You will spend your days caring for and riding the horses on the reserve amidst plentiful game, whist also taking part in a well-structured and extremely informative equine and conservation course. This will teach you all you need to know about the African wildlife and conservation, together with the vital aspects of the equine care.

Safari Guide Training Courses in Australia’s Northern Territory!
This is an identical programme as the African option only geared towards the Australian bush! So if you’re keen to do the safari guide training in Africa, but would really like to go to Australia first then you have the best of both worlds! Train to be a safari guide in the Northern Territory close to Kakadu National Park- awesome! Coming very soon!

Tracking courses Botswana
Also new for 2009 and 2010 we’ll be offering a range of hands on tracking courses out in the remote African bush of Botswana. These courses will give you a raw, yet memorable and unforgettable experience of the way Africa should be. Tracking is taught through practical work on bush walks and you’ll find yourself getting fine-tuned into African wilderness.
