The course description
a typical day on this gap project
Weekdays you'll work and volunteer with most of the community and charities projects.
You'll have your morning breakfast with your fellow volunteers, the charities members of staff and the community and go over what’s planned for the day.
Start working on various projects, typically you'll help with more labour-intensive projects like constructing new buildings or agricultural development early in the day and before the hot African sun sets in.
Around mid-day you'll have lunch with the other volunteers and community members.
After lunch and now the children are finished with primary school, you'll be encouraged to come help play with them or even teach and assist with after school homework. Once the kids have left to go home, you'll usually go back to your development projects until the work day finishes at around 5 or 6pm.
You'll spend the rest of the day relaxing and socializing with your now new friends the fellow volunteers, staff or community members at various communal and social areas the community has built.
Dinners are usually around 7pm and you can decide during your stay and with your group if you want the community’s chefs and charities staff member to prepare your food, if you want to cook for yourself or a bit of both.
