Community Development in Africa or India
with College for International Co-Operation and Development
A wise philosopher once said: "To investigate a problem is to solve it". The same goes for the challenges facing us in the decades to come. It is only when we face up to them, investigate, understand and learn how to deal with them that we can take the right action. We do this at CICD. All our programmes are solidly founded in today's reality and looking towards the future. It is essential that we live and work collectively. The tasks we face are too big to solve alone.
Highlights
Being part of community development project in some of the poorest areas
Helping communities to get one step closer to a more self-sustainable life
To challenge yourself and your boundaries
The course description
a typical day on this gap project
The days at CICD and on the project are going to be quite varied. Whilst on the study and preparation time at CICD, after breakfast it will be studying time, this could be in a classroom or it could be travelling to Hull or further afield to maybe Manchester to do some research with the public on issues we face in today's society, it could be a practical workshop day or outdoor activities for a few days. The days on the volunteering project could range from many different things, depending on the project, you could be starting a cooking club for young mothers, helping with agriculture, child aid, developing schools, health projects, self-help groups, farms for local smallholders, tackling climate change issues and of course education.
