Realising that supporting local people in areas of need either required a huge time commitment, or else a substantial financial outlay by the volunteer, IVHQ decided to change the nature of volunteering, making it possible to travel and make a difference, without breaking the bank, by partnering with local organisations to get help to exactly where it is required.

IVHQ receive applications from charities all over the world, but only select the highest quality that will provide the best experience for you, our volunteers. You can now choose to offer your time in more than twenty countries, in South America, Latin America, Africa and Asia, with programs ranging from teaching and sports education to music and medical work.

Who are we looking for?

You must be 18 years of age or over to participate on an IVHQ volunteer program.

While the ability to speak the native language of the country you are visiting is not a pre-requisite for taking part, you will find that some knowledge of the language will enable to work more effectively at your placement and to get more out of your experience.

On each project you are given an initial period of orientation, allowing you to get used to your new environment. The local staff will prepare you with useful information about local customs and culture - everything you need to know to get started and really enjoy your time.
