We don't just work by ourselves but work closely with the local and federal government as well as global NGO's such as Reef Check and WWF and national universities such as the University of Science Malaysia. We see ourselves more of a conservation project management company than a travel/voluntourism company.

Wildlife Rescue Centre in Java Indonesia - Orangutans, Gibbons and sun bears

typical day What's it like

A typical day on this gap year project

The wake up call is the sound of 20 gibbons and 8 orangutans. It's an alarm clock that can never be beat.

The mornings are generally focused towards husbandry and caring for the animals. This includes cage cleaning, food prep, vet rounds and farming for the animals food.

In the afternoon volunteers work on enrichment for the animals or develop lesson plans and lead school club lessons for the local school children. In the evenings we eat dinner in the homes of the villagers close to the centre.
