When it comes to volunteering in Africa, we are the experts. Our team of international and local staff on the ground run over 80 different volunteer programs in 10 different African countries, so we know first-hand what volunteering can achieve.

We believe in the power of responsible volunteering, which is why every project is run hand-in-hand with local communities and why you can be certain that you will have a safe, fun and rewarding experience in Africa with us!

Big 5 Wildlife Research in South Africa

typical day What's it like

A typical day on this gap year project

While living at our beautiful lodge, surrounded by game reserves, no 2 days are the same for our conservation volunteers!

We do enjoy an early start, whether to go on a morning game drive or just to watch the sunrise, but trust us - it's worth it!

Each day (Monday to Friday) you will take part in a variety of different activities that support on-going wildlife conservation in this area, which will include:

- Daily research game drives to monitor the Big 5

- Wildlife surveys

- Conservation presentations

- Conservation education and development work in the local community

- Physical conservation work, including snare sweeping

- Ad-hoc project work, to include camera trap surveys, data entry and completion of animal identification kits

Weekends consist of free time, where volunteers can explore the local area, visit the Kruger National Park, take in the sights, or even just relax around our pool!
