Sorry, BUNAC are not currently advertising any vacancies.
If you were to choose a Bunac gap year programme, what one would you choose?
I'd have to choose one of the Marine Conservation programmes, living it up on the sea front, diving daily and getting hands on in a community sounds amazing. I'd be able to get all my thrills under water whilst making a difference to a community through teaching people of all ages basic English skills and things from my heritage and culture.
Some people think that taking a Gap Year is all about having fun, we know that the programmes people go on genuinely help local communities, could you tell us about some projects Bunac is involved in?
At BUNAC we have been working adventures worldwide now for 53 years and our volunteering projects have been some of our most successful along the way! We have some amazing community projects all over the world where you can offer community support through construction of schools or farm land, right the way through to teaching basic English and sports. We also cater for all the animal lovers out there, and if that's you, you could find yourself monitoring the sea-life in Fiji, turtles in Costa Rica and elephants and rhinos in South Africa - sounds fun right!
Is it really expensive to do a gap year?
If you are looking to head away on a Gap Year it makes sense to have some savings ready to go, but you can travel with us on a working holiday visa for up to 24 months in the likes of Canada and Australia for as little as £399! Stop off in either Iceland or Hong Kong on route in a BUNAC group flight, book amazing excursions when you land and we can even help you get a job sorted ready for your arrival... so it isn't as expensive as you might think.
Parents can worry about their kids going away at the age of 18, what type of support do you have in place for peace of mind?
We have 24/7 support 365 days of the year and we are hear to help from the moment you book on right the way through to your return. With online webinars, audio orientations and travel talks all round the country we will making you're your kids are fully prepared before they fly out! What's more is when they land, their packages are all inclusive so you can sleep at night knowing they have great accommodation, food and loads of new friends in the making. For those of you heading out on a gap year, we have drop in centres dotted all over the country you are visiting so you can get all the advice and support you need whenever you want.
Do your gap year programmes include everything that a traveller will need or do they have to arrange anything themselves?
Our Work Abroad programmes in Canada and Australia have varied packages that you can opt into. From starter packages just giving you all the essential ingredients you need such as key contacts on landing for work and support, to ultimate packages offering you all the essentials, a pre arranged job on arrival and all the whistle and bells on top.
What advice would you give to a first time traveller?
Do not be hesitant! We know how scary it can be to head away for the first time as we are all well travelled ourselves; one thing is for sure though we all had absolutely no regrets! So if it's on your mind... Just GO!
Is it better to volunteer or do a paid gap year?
Each offers a different experience and it totally depends on the individual and what they want to get out of their time away as both are rewarding in their own right.
What is the single best thing you learnt on your gap year?
I Learnt that I loved everything about travel, the new culture, the people you meet, the experiences you end up having, the spontaneous events and even the bits you didn't expect! It's all these things that come together and produce unforgettable memories.
