Summer Season Jobs

There are residential summer camps and outdoor activity centres dotted throughout the UK and they all need to pay seasonal staff to run their activities for their visitors. Although professional adventure staff will be the first port of call, many centres need so many staff that previous experience is not always required. For this reason, the paid summer jobs on this page are absolutely perfect for gap year students. Jobs include support staff (Apprentice Activity Leader) to qualified instructors (Outdoor Activity Instructor, Watersports Instructor, Paddlesports Instructor or Adventure Instructor). Applications are welcomed from people who have the energy and enthusiasm to relate to young people. You will need good organisational skills and effective communication skills to be able to deliver exceptional customer service. Your paid gap year job in the UK or paid summer job in the UK will introduce young people to a variety of outdoor activities, from high-ropes, climbing and zip-lining to kayaking, canoeing and canyoning. These outdoor activities must be delivered as a safe and enjoyable experience. Your paid summer job in the UK or paid gap year job in the UK will broaden your experience and give you numerous transferable skills. Most of the paid summer jobs in the UK and paid gap year jobs in the UK come with accommodation provided. These residential summer camps and outdoor activity centres are often great bases to explore the rest of the UK.

If you are looking to train up to be a fully qualified instructor, there are Apprentice Activity Leader programmes available. Often you will be sponsored to take nationally recognised qualifications, paid an apprentice salary and be given subsidised accommodation and board. Getting paid to live and work at a residential summer camp or outdoor activity centre is the best way to qualify as an Instructor. To top it all off, you may be offered a paid job at the end of your training!

Taking a gap year in the UK? Fancy a paid summer job? Have a passion for outdoor activities? If you are thinking about taking a gap year in the UK, a summer job in the UK should be your first port of call.
