Course Description

At Kaya, we have quite a few programmes to choose from if you're interested in learning Spanish in Latin America! On our website, we have a whole section devoted to this area of interest, so feel free to peruse your options. Our project pages include all the details you could want, and our advisors are standing by to answer any questions you may have. We have programmes dedicated to language-learning, but we also have a wide variety of volunteer programmes that are located in Latin America and that would allow you to either utilise your existing language skills or develop new ones. It all depends on your level and interests! We've decided to describe a specific language-learning programme located in Ecuador here so you can get a sense of our offerings.

PROGRAM EXAMPLE: LEARN SPANISH IN ECUADOR

The course is designed for volunteers, professionals or people who have the time for a full-immersion programme. If you can already speak some Spanish, you'll take a written and oral test on the first day. Your teacher will prepare daily lesson plans to match your skill level. A one-to-one approach is used so that you have the full attention and support of the teacher and gain confidence in your speaking abilities. The focus of the course may contain the following: For beginners: basic vocabulary for reading and understanding; vocabulary; pronunciation; practical Spanish conversation; understanding: readings and lectures. The programme includes lectures on Ecuadorian geography, history, literature, politics and culture. The language school has a library containing different kinds of books and essays about Ecuadorian history, economy, tourism, grammar, literature, natural sciences, geography and more, which you are welcome to read.

Interested in volunteering and learning the language on the side instead of joining an intensive programme? Don't worry, we have plenty of options available.

Interested in an online language programme? We have an option in Ecuador that might be the perfect fit! You can even combine the Ecuador language programme with an internship (potentially for credit, depending on your institution's requirements) if you wish to. Let us know if this interests you!

Typically, our program fees include accommodations, meals 2x/day, airport pick-up and drop-off, training, a pre-departure information pack, onsite orientation and project induction, transfer to the project site after orientation, 24/7 support on the ground, and more. Every one of our projects is listed on our website, and each listing includes detailed costs and inclusions.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are reopening limited locations that meet our strict safety standards. You can travel with a small group of tested students and volunteers! If you want to hold out and travel later, let us know and we can keep you updated on specific locations and programmes. Looking for a virtual option? We have a series of virtual internships available that include cultural components, and they’ve been a huge success.
