The duties and responsibilities of this role will be wide-ranging and variable, with the successful candidate willing to be flexible and get involved in all areas of College life. Depending on the candidate’s experience, background and future plans, the role may be adapted to give the successful candidate desired experience and training.
The gap student’s role may include:
• supporting academic staff in the provision of activities and lessons as required and directed;
• accompanying students on educational trips and visits;
• undertaking supervision duties within the Boarding House according to the supervision rotas, including some evenings, overnight and weekends;
• contributing to sports and other activities;
• undertaking training including in safeguarding, fire safety and First Aid;
• running evening activities in the Boarding House;
• running or assisting in running weekend activities when on duty, contributing to the provision for full boarders;
• assisting with House competitions and contribute to the interhouse programme across the school year;
• assisting the House Parent in ensuring that all students comply with the College and House rules;
• attending regular House meetings.
Responsibilities and Reporting Relationships
The Gap Student will report to their House Parent and to the Head of Boarding. They will contribute to the Super Curriculum programme overseen by the Director of Super Curriculum.
Experience and Attributes
• Completion of secondary school and / or undergraduate education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High levels of emotional intelligence and a proven ability to form strong working relationships with colleagues and students.
