Volunteer with the Maasai Tribe in Tanzania

typical day What's it like

A typical day on this gap year project

Nestled at the foot of Africa's highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro, is the small and welcoming community of Moshi that you will call home!

As a volunteer, you will work with one of Africa’s most iconic and oldest tribes, the Maasai, supporting members of the tribe who have had little or no opportunity to access education as a child and are suffering as adults to get jobs.

Each day (Monday - Friday), you will get involved in a variety of activities that target all demographics within the community; from teenagers and adults, to single mothers, widows and people with disabilities.

This will include:

- Literacy programs

- English language lessons

- Professional development programs

- Youth empowerment programs

Weekends consist of free time, where volunteers can explore the local area. Tanzania is known for it's unspoiled wildlife, so a safari should definitely be on the cards! For the more adventurous, why not try hiking the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro?
