Course Description
a typical day on this gap project
Here is what your daily rhythm would look like during those intensive five weeks:
The Morning: Wellness and Fuel
7:00 AM – Gym Session: Start your day early at a local gimnasio in downtown Buenos Aires. The city wakes up with a boost of caffeine and exercise, and getting your workout in early ensures your mind is sharp for the academic load ahead.
9:00 AM – Breakfast at Palacio Piedras: Head back to your French-style residence. Enjoy a classic Argentine breakfast—perhaps some medialunas (sweet croissants) and a strong café con leche—while looking over your notes in the sun-drenched common areas.
The Core: TEFL Training (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
11:00 AM – Intensive Theory & Methodology: Step into the vintage-style classrooms at the Institute. These hours are the "meat" of the course, where you dive into the 130-hour curriculum. You’ll study English grammar structures, phonology, and the psychological aspects of how people acquire a second language.
1:30 PM – Lesson Planning Workshops: Under the guidance of experienced linguists, you’ll work in small groups to design engaging lesson plans. You aren't just reading textbooks; you are creating the activities you will actually use in a classroom later that day.
The Mid-Day Break: Lunch and Recharge
3:00 PM – Lunch in San Telmo: After class, step out into the "heart of the city." Grab a quick choripán or a slice of Argentine pizza at a nearby café.
4:00 PM – Downtime: Head back to the school's lounge or your apartment for a "siesta" or a relaxed study session. This is the time to decompress, check in with family, or simply soak in the historic atmosphere of your 19th-century surroundings.
The Afternoon: Real-World Practice
5:30 PM – Classroom Observations: This is where the theory becomes reality. You’ll travel to one of the Institute's partner English schools. You will sit in on live classes, observing how veteran teachers manage local Argentine students, handle "Spanglish" errors, and keep the energy high.
7:30 PM – Supervised Teaching (On Practice Days): On days when you aren't just observing, you’ll take the lead. You will teach real students in a real classroom setting while your mentors provide the personalized feedback that makes this in-person course so prestigious.
The Evening: Social & Cultural Immersion
9:00 PM – Dinner and Networking: In Argentina, the night is young at 9:00 PM. Join your fellow "gappers" and trainees for dinner. It’s the perfect time to trade teaching stories, practice your new Spanish phrases, and plan your weekend trips to the wine regions or waterfalls.
