The course description
a typical day on this gap project

Day 1

Arrival and Transfer to Kampala

You will be met at the airport by our safari guide who will transfer you to the hotel reserved for you in Kampala. Dinner and overnight will be at this hotel. On this day you will have an optional opportunity to tour the city of kampala and most of the Traditional setups in this city depending on your time of arrival.

Main Destination: Kampala

Accommodation: Marie's Royale Hotel

Mid-range hotel located in or near Kampala

Day 2

Travel to Lake Mburo National Park and Boat ride

You will set off after breakfast for the Lake Mburo National Park in the western part of the country. Stopover will be at the Equator for photos at this international landmark where you will also watch the mesmerizing water experiments conducted at the spot where the two hemispheres divide. You will continue the drive through the rolling hills and plains dotted with community homesteads and herds of the long horned Ankole cattle to Lake Mburo National Park. You will arrive in time for an afternoon boat ride and later retire for dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.

Day 3

Morning Game drive in Mburo and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

You will wake up early and set off for a morning game drive to enjoy the rich biodiversity of this park that boasts of the large herds of zebra, impala, gigantic eland, topis and a variety of bird species. We later check out of the Hotel and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The drive will after through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather despite being near the Equator. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzias free. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge of booking.

Day 4

Canoe ride / swimming / hike to the view point and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bunyonyi means “place of little birds” and as the name suggests, there is plenty of birdlife around the lake. The landscape around the lake is made up of terraced hills protruding from the water’s edge. You will choose either to go for a canoe ride, swim on the lake or hike to the view point on the hills to see the exceedingly beautiful scenery of this part of the country. In the afternoon you will transfer to the home of Gorillas at the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Day 5

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

You will have an early morning breakfast and move to the Park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules. You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited.

Day 6

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Climbing Lions

After your morning breakfast, you will have an early morning Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park Game drive through Ishasha Sector where you will see the Tree Climbing lion. You later drive to Queen Elizabeth and You will Check into your lodge and rest from the long transfer.

Day 7

Early Game Drive and Boat Cruise

After Breakfast we go for an early Game drive viewing the Lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck among others, and in the afternoon go for a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. It is a 42kms channel that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful, with well over 550 resident species.

Accommodation: The Baboon Safari Resort Mid-range lodge located just outside Queen Elizabeth NP

Meals & Drinks: All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 8

Travel to Kampala/Entebbe

You will have a relaxed breakfast and set off on the journey to Kampala. You will arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon and either be transferred to the airport for your departure flight or to the hotel of your booking for dinner and overnight.

Main Destination: Entebbe

Accommodation: No accommodation (End of tour)

Meals & Drinks: All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

The Safari price does not include: Air Travel into and out of Uganda, Visa Costs, Drinks other than those included in accommodation meal price, Laundry as well as Tips. Activities states as optional aren’t contained in the price however can be included upon request.
