Course Description

UKSA's Workboat Deckhand Training Course is designed for those ready to take on the challenges of workboats. The course equips you with essential deck skills, safety training, and practical experience that will make you an asset in any maritime role.

With training in everything from firefighting and first aid to lifting operations and security awareness, this course prepares you for dual deck/engineer roles, opening doors to exciting opportunities across the maritime industry.

This all-inclusive course gives you the knowledge, confidence, and practical ability to begin working immediately on tugboats, pilot boats, transfer vessels, and more.

Course overview:

*Four week course

*Expert tuition

*Deck work, safety training, engineering fundamentals

*Vessel handling, survival techniques emergency fundamentals

*Basic safety training

*Defib & oxygen administration, slinger & banksman, crowd management & dangerous goods by sea

*Purpose built classrooms and navigational training simulators all on one site

*Food and accommodation included

the requirements for this course

Deckhands are typically required to work long hours and must be physically fit and able. You must be energetic and enthusiastic with an ability to work to a high standard in all tasks.

All seafarers must have an ENG1 seafarer medical fitness certificate to work at sea

There are no other pre-requisites necessary to start the course but it may be beneficial to attend an open day at UKSA. learn more about the courses on offer, meet UKSA's team, see the campus facilities, and get a feel for what life would be like as a future UKSA student. Contact UKSA to book.
