No registration fees and higher salaries (allowing applicants have some decent spending money for after camp, rather than an age based pocket money scheme you'll find elsewhere) make Wild Packs stand out from the crowd!

Most importantly Wild Packs allow you to have choice and input into what type of camp you’d feel most comfortable working at. We want to get to know you, so that we can find you a position at a camp that’s just right for you. In our books, happy counselors equal happy campers!

Never will you wake up and find you are randomly placed at a camp. You will check out their website, speak with the Wild Packs team about the camp and most importantly speak with the director, allowing you to gain valuable insight into the workings of the camp, their campers, their staff and their philosophy. We offer a completely personal and tailored service to all. We will support and guide you through the application process; all of our team work for various camps in the US over the summer, so we know our stuff!

Work in the USA as a Camp Counselor

typical day What's it like

A typical day on this gap year project

You will essentially be getting paid to be a big kid! You may be teaching kids how to swim, to hit a tennis ball, to paint a picture- the opportunities are endless. Your days will consist of hanging out with kids in the American sunshine, teaching them skills that they will keep with them for life.

The most important thing to bear in mind is that you will be working with children in a fast paced and fairly structured environment. You are part of a small community at camp- team work is key.

Before any of the campers arrive, the camp will put all staff members through an extensive staff training orientation, which normally runs for at least a week. You will learn about every aspect of the job of a camp counsellor. This will range from how each day is split up to dealing with instances of homesickness.

There are numerous roles available in all the camps, all of which involve different tasks and duties. Please visit our website for more information of the various positions available. Camp is a very lively environment and even with the best planning, things can change very quickly. We are looking for staff who can think on their feet, love working with children and enjoy a fast-paced lifestyle.

ideal candidate Project Requirements

Who would be a suitable participant?

All that we require is that camp staff arrive with an open mind, to leave their inhibitions at the gate and endeavour to be as proactive as possible through the application process. Camp will not require you to be an Olympic athlete or have appeared at the West End, but skills and experience with children will help.

If your heart is in the right place and you have a work ethic to match your enthusiasm, we will make it work. You have nothing to lose by completing our free application form and having a chat with us. There are absolutely no registration fees to worry about.

our offer Project Benefits

What we can offer you

• No registration or application fees- apply for free,
• Higher than average camp salaries- not based on age or skill set,
• Full medical insurance for the duration of your stay in the USA,
• Up to 60 days travel time,
• All food and accommodation included for the duration of your contract,
• Visa paperwork and support,
