Thanks to the generous support of funders, UKSA have funding opportunities available to support non-repayable funding and financial assistance to students enrolling on this course.

Funding is available based upon your personal circumstances and, for non-repayable funding, taking on two years paid employment with UKSA as a Watersports Instructor.

Course Description
a typical day on this gap project

This course best suits those who love working outdoors and want to propel themselves from a hobby or passion, into a career. It is suitable for near-beginners or those looking to take their passion for watersports to instructor level. You need to be a good communicator and team player yet able to work on your own initiative. For maximum employability, you will qualify as a multi-disciplined instructor to teach dinghy sailing, windsurfing and multi-hull sailing – making you very desirable within the watersports industry. The training will provide you with the qualifications required to work in the UK and around the world. UKSA has fantastic connections within the industry and will provide students with recruitment support that will give you the edge to enter the industry with confidence.

You will live and eat on-site and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with the campus lifestyle. It also means you get plenty of time to learn, and be out on the water. As we are based on an island we can travel daily to wherever the water conditions are best!

the requirements for this course

You are required to have at least a minimum of one week’s recent dinghy and windsurfing experience. Anyone without this level of experience will be required to complete the two-week Kickstart course first.

There are no other pre-requisites necessary to start the course but it may be beneficial to attend an open day at UKSA. learn more about the courses on offer, meet UKSA's team, see the campus facilities, and get a feel for what life would be like as a future UKSA student. Contact UKSA to book.
